Omar Marmoush has shared the valuable advice he received from Mohamed Salah, which he credits for influencing his remarkable form ahead of a high-profile transfer to Manchester City. The Egypt international is set to finalize a stunning €80 million move (€75m upfront) from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Premier League champions following an exceptional season in the Bundesliga.
The 25-year-old has been in sensational form, scoring 20 goals and providing 14 assists in 26 appearances. However, he was absent from Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Friday, as the club confirmed ongoing transfer discussions. While Marmoush insists he is not trying to become the “next Salah” in the Premier League, he revealed that the Liverpool star offered him key advice that has been instrumental in his development.
“When I first joined the national team, he spoke to me about the importance of the mental side of the game,” Marmoush said on the Sahibet Al-Saada TV show. “He told me to work on my mental strength. Many players have talent, but mental strength is what truly sets you apart if you want to reach the top.”
“At first, I didn’t fully understand it. Like many young players, I thought, ‘Mental strength? How is that going to help me?’ But after taking his advice, experiencing it firsthand, and trying new approaches, I realized how much of a difference it makes,” he added.
Marmoush Praises Salah’s Impact and Friendship
Omar Marmoush has highlighted the strong bond he shares with Mohamed Salah, emphasizing how the Liverpool star’s success in the Premier League has been an invaluable source of inspiration.
“Mo and I have a great relationship; we’re friends. We talk often, and I always try to learn from his experiences,” the soon-to-be Manchester City striker explained. “He’s been in Europe for a long time and has spent several years competing at the highest level.”
Marmoush acknowledged the advantage of having a fellow Egyptian teammate who has navigated similar challenges and achieved remarkable success. “It’s amazing to have someone from my country on the national team who has gone through all of this and achieved so much. It helps me learn from his experiences and understand the stories behind his journey.”
However, Marmoush is determined to carve his own path. “Salah is an incredible player—one of the best from Egypt and one of Europe’s finest—but I don’t want to be the next Mohamed Salah. I want to be Omar Marmoush and create my own legacy,” he asserted.
While he aims to forge his unique career, Marmoush values Salah’s mentorship. “I learn so much from him. He’s always willing to help and guide me, whether it’s about handling specific situations or improving myself as a player.”
Marmoush and Salah may only share the Premier League stage for a short time, as reports suggest the Liverpool star is increasingly likely to make a high-profile move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
