Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has expressed frustration over his limited playing time at the club, revealing that he has discussed the matter with the manager.
The 21-year-old has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, largely due to injury setbacks earlier in the season.
Elliott missed 14 games after suffering a broken foot, and despite recovering, his appearances have been restricted to coming off the bench. He has yet to start a single Premier League match this season.
However, the young midfielder impressed in a substitute appearance during Liverpool’s victory over Brentford and is determined to challenge for a starting role in upcoming fixtures. Despite his frustrations, Elliott remains happy at the club and is eager to make a greater impact.
When speaking to reporters about his current role and future at Liverpool, Elliott shared his thoughts, as reported by GOAL.
Harvey Elliott has acknowledged having conversations about his playing time but insists he is not alone, as other teammates in similar situations are likely doing the same. Despite limited minutes, the 21-year-old remains patient, determined to work hard, and ready to contribute whenever called upon.
“I just have to keep working hard, help the team whenever I’m needed, and wait for my opportunity,” he said. “I don’t expect to play straight away. I want to give everything for the team and the club.”
Elliott’s attitude as a bench option has been commendable, showing no frustration or desire to leave Liverpool. He is happy working under Arne Slot, who has made the Reds favorites for the Premier League title this season. With uncertainties surrounding key players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Elliott remains fully committed to Liverpool and has no plans to leave.
Under contract until 2027, he has dismissed any speculation about a potential exit, stating, “This is my club, my team. I’ll fight for my place and do whatever it takes to help the team. I won’t give up.”
Elliott’s positivity and commitment make him a valuable option for Slot, and with more opportunities likely to come, he could have a bigger role to play in the future. Meanwhile, Liverpool continues to be linked with Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, potentially as a replacement for Salah.
