A deal may reportedly already be in place for Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid in the summer.
The Reds’ right-back is nearing free agency, with his current contract at Anfield set to expire in a few months. With no significant progress on a contract extension, sources in Spain are increasingly confident that the 26-year-old will become a Real Madrid player in June.
According to El Chiringuito journalist Josep Pedrerol, there’s even speculation about a potential January transfer for Alexander-Arnold, with a fee of €35-40 million being discussed.

It’s likely that Real Madrid would find it excessive to pay €35-40 million now when they could wait a few months to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer. Similarly, Liverpool would be reluctant to part with such a key player mid-season.
Even with the risk of losing Alexander-Arnold for nothing, Liverpool might decide it’s more valuable to keep him in the squad for the remainder of the campaign rather than accepting a fee that would fall far short of what’s needed to secure an adequate replacement.
Can we consider Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid a done deal?
All signs point to Trent Alexander-Arnold making the switch from Anfield to the Bernabéu this summer, but as we know, things in football can change rapidly.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently discussed the Alexander-Arnold-to-Real Madrid situation with CaughtOffside, emphasizing that Liverpool are determined to do everything they can to retain the right-back, even though Los Blancos remain confident about completing the deal.
“Real Madrid are working on signing Trent, but Liverpool are unwilling to negotiate in January as they’re still aiming to extend his contract,” Romano stated.
“That said, it won’t be easy—Real Madrid are pushing hard and remain confident, but Liverpool will fight to keep him until the very end.”
