His frequent appearances on NBC Sports provide David Ornstein, who is one of the most trustworthy sources, with a great platform from which to deliver hints regarding Chelsea.
He brought up Mauricio Pochettino last week, saying that the coach had previously said that the Europa League, not the Conference League, was his objective.
The topic of Chelsea’s finances has sprung up this week, and if confirmed, it would make huge news:
According to his understanding, they are not need to make sales in order to comply with [PSR and FFP] 2023-24, he stated on the American TV network.
For the fiscal year 2023–24, the deadline is June 30. To meet the requirements for 2024–25, they will have to generate sales. As one may expect, the transfer window’s conclusion in August and subsequent January constitute the cutoff [for 2024–2025].
The concern was over whether the Blues would have to sell before buying, and that seemed to flat-out reject that.
If this is accurate, Chelsea will be ecstatic for a variety of reasons. It lets us acquire players without having to part with the ones we’d like hold on to.
Keep in mind that Ornstein isn’t implying that we shouldn’t sell; he’s simply stating that we’re good to go for the past season. It buys us some time to see whether we can return to the Champions League next season, which might increase our income and maybe even eliminate the need for any large sales in the future.
We can’t cast doubt on Ornstein’s sources in this case, but we also can’t cast doubt on the several credible journalists who have consistently told him the contrary for the past few months.
We will simply have to wait for more information; this merely serves to highlight the fact that no one outside the club has a complete picture. The owners will most likely not make a public statement regarding it.
