Mikel Arteta and Edu both talked about how happy they were that Jorginho agreed to sign a new deal with the club.
There was a lot of talk that the 32-year-old Italy player would be leaving the club when his 18-month deal at the end of the season came to an end. He had joined from Chelsea for £12 million in January 2023.
After months of rumors and speculation, it was reported today that Jorginho will stay at the Emirates next season after agreeing to sign a new contract.
“We are very happy that Jorgi signed a new contract with us,” said Edu, the sporting director. Through his hard work and success, he shows what we stand for at Arsenal.
It makes me happy to know that Jorgi will be staying with the club. Not only the players and teachers, but also the staff who work behind the scenes. It’s great that Jorginho is still with us. We’re getting better and stronger all the time.
“We’re thrilled that Jorgi has signed a new contract with us,” said manager Mikel Arteta. Jorgi is such an important part of our team. He is a leader by example and has a special way of playing that makes everyone around him better on the field.
“We’re thrilled that Jorgi and his family have decided to join us, and we can’t wait to start this journey together.”
At the end of the day, ARSENAL would have made a huge mistake by letting Jorginho leave the club. This was a great choice that will keep a world-class midfielder at the club in the summer.
There’s a chance that a new midfielder will replace Jorginho as the team’s first choice, but the player still has a lot to give.
