If Barcelona beats Rayo Vallecano, they will be in second place in La Liga, and they are already on their way to three points after just three minutes.
It was Robert Lewandowski who scored the first goal. He met Lamine Yamal’s great cross and fired a shot past Stole Dimitrievski in the Rayo goal.
At the start, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal did great work, and Lewandowski did a great job of controlling his precise cross. The Polish player could barely miss from about six yards out. As a whole, he has scored 25 goals this season, 18 of them in La Liga. The Pichichi Trophy race is now down to just two goals between him and Artem Dovbyk. He will be confident that he can score more goals against Rayo.
Because of recent rumors about Xavi Hernandez’s future as head coach, Barcelona needed to get off to a fast start in this one. They will want to see this through to the end because it would lock up second place in La Liga.
