The rumor mill has it that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window for a cool million dollars.
For a long time now, Salah has been among the top Premier League players, and Liverpool fans have witnessed him perform admirably as a finisher.
Even though he has scored 24 goals for LIVERPOOL so far this season, he doesn’t appear to be the same player that battled for the golden boot and led the Reds to titles year after year.
With Jurgen Klopp’s departure in a matter of weeks, many are of the belief—including analyst Paul Merson—that this will be the winger’s final season at Anfield. Much conjecture has surrounded his future with the club.
“If Mohamed Salah does decide to leave, Arne Slot will have a monumental task ahead of him in terms of scoring goals,” Merson said in his Sportskeeda blog. “My prediction is that Salah will go to Saudi Arabia this summer.”
This follows remarks made by Liverpool great Graeme Souness, who recently stated on talkSPORT that Mohamed Salah may have already agreed a Ronaldo-esque deal with Liverpool in the summer of last year, suggesting that the attacker may have “had his head turned” before the deadline.
“Oh, Saudi Arabia is interested,” he said, but he extended the deadline by one year. Just like Cristiano Ronaldo did with Manchester United; he extended his contract before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009. I can’t rule out the idea that it could be true.
I believe Salah has had his head turned, despite the fact that he is [nearly] 32 years old and has been fantastic for Liverpool. I think it’s quite likely that will happen given his age, the fact that he is returning to a Muslim country, and his mother tongue.
It may be time for Salah to leave LIVERPOOL, despite the fact that he is a world-class player who has been outstanding for them over the seasons. His performance will only deteriorate and his statistics will keep going down.
